Hello and Goodbye to Guest Bloggers: Julie Smith & Karen Hall

We would like to thank Julie Smith for a wonderful two weeks of guest blogging and we hope that she will continue to participate here in the comments. We also want to introduce our newest guest blogger, Karen Hall. Karen graduated from BYU where she studied Russian. She then went on to Harvard Law School. While there, she clawed her way to the top of the Latter-day Saint Student Association hierarchy, and ended her law school days as President of that illustrious organization. Needless to say, she ruled with an iron fist, and the LDSSA descended into chaos and apostacy upon her move to Washington, DC, where she practices law and wastes time on the internet.

Welcome Karen!

  1. Welcome Karen — it’s about time we had another member of the Olympus High class of ’92 on board. (Please don’t tell the others what I was like in high school.)

And thanks Julie, I really enjoyed your posts.

  2. Hey- just FYI- I have added a link to your site on my blog.

And also FYI, Greg, there are SEVERAL Oly alums here at University of Michigan pursuing all sorts of academic endeavors. Two of them are my next-door neighbors.

  3. Julie, thanks for your blogs. “Why We Doze in Sunday School” was the Platonic form of a blog.

Karen, welcome. I’m a little nervous about another attorney, but they seem to be the only ones with time to blog.

  4. Julie–it has been great sharing the “token woman” duties. And I haven’t posted much lately because I’m still trying to figure out how to do ones as good as your “Talk I’ve Never Given” and “Why We Doze…”

  5. Julie, Thank you for your thought provoking posts. However, I would probably have changed the title to Why we ditch S… ;-)

  6. Thanks for the good wishes. Yes, Gordon, that was my sneaky mission reference. :o) Russia, St. Petersburg, ’95-’96.

Greg, I only remember you tormenting our English teacher….wait….I guess I shouldn’t have written that. :o)

Jim, I can only assure you that I’m a *nice* attorney. Please don’t be nervous.

Finally, Julie, thanks so much for your posts, they have been thought provoking and entertaining.

  7. “Jim, I can only assure you that I’m a *nice* attorney. Please don’t be nervous.”

But your firm bio says that you are a litigator?!?

  8. Hey, not all litigators swear like sailors, throw things, break furniture and abuse the staff …

    Not even all competent ones.
