Snarker Unmasked?

With some help from a Random John, I have definitively pinpointed the Bloggernacle Snarker’s IP address. It is:

127.0.0.1.

Don’t you believe us, Snarker? Try sending a Telnet message to that IP address. :)

With that key piece of the puzzle in place, I am confident that it won’t be long before the snarkers are publicly unmasked.

And thus Kaimi proves that the entire bloggernacle is indeed a figment of his own imagination.

Hey, Kaimi, can you dream me up a nice hot fudge sundae?

Heck with waiting. I say we just enlist some 1337 haxx0rz and go kill whatever computer we find at 127.0.0.1. After all, it has been done before, and it doesn’t sound all that hard to do. (Warning: Language).

Is Kaimi providing evidence that he himself is the Snarker? Or just that the Snarker is using Kaimi’s computer to snark from?

I’m so confused. Who’s the Snarker? It isn’t me, is it?

  6. January 12, 2006 at 4:53 pm

Does it prove what a nerd I am that I know exactly who/what lies at the IP 127.0.0.1?
The snarker should prepare to be pwned!

  17. January 12, 2006 at 6:38 pm

Okay, for all the non-geeks in the audience, 127.0.0.1 is internet code for whatever machine you happen to be sitting at right now.

  19. January 12, 2006 at 6:49 pm

    So maybe it’s me!

Or it could be you (whoever you are reading this).

    Is this a postmodern thread?

  20. January 12, 2006 at 6:51 pm

Don’t do it! Don’t unmask the Snarker- (s)he brings more fun to the blogs than we deserve! Who doesn’t check to see who’s been snarked?? For all of our sake, Don’t DO IT!!!!

    Pleeeeeeease!

  21. January 12, 2006 at 8:08 pm

Ivan, I love it. Then perhaps 127.0.0.1 is a postmodern IP address!

Someone should run a composition-analysis of the Snarker’s posts against the regular bloggers and commenters on the ‘nacle, and see who matches the most. Are there any free web interfaces to such software?

My gut feel analysis tells me the Snarker is either male, or a female doing a good impersonation of a male.

I’m pretty sure the four writers are John and the three Nephites. I don’t have enough evidence to prove it yet, but I’m pretty sure.

    We all know it’s Kaimi.

Kaimi (and the snarker) are the only ones who seem to care who it is, everyone else seems to be pleased to let him snark in anonymity.

Cute little joke, saying that your home computer is the snarker’s address.

    “There is no snarker.”
