We’re trying out Bloglines, which has some advantages over our old blgoroll program, Blogrolling. For example, it allows us to categorize blogs. Also, it allows us to read posts in one place (aggregation). It has a few differences, however. The main difference is that it requires an RSS feed. Non-RSS blogs are, for the moment, clumped together in a group at the end of the blogroll.
In addition, I should note that
(1) The determinations of category were made on the fly by Kaimi, and should not be viewed as etched in stone. If you think that your blog is more accurately described as “political” or “journal” or “Mormon-themed” or whatever and it is currently in another category, you can let me (or Nate, or Gordon) know. We’re likely to agree with you. (And new categories may always arise, as we tinker with this feature).
(2) I couldn’t export blogs, so I had to re-enter them all. I may have missed one or more. If your blog suddenly disappeared off of our list, it was probably due to inadvertence. We’re not trying to blackball anyone here.
(3) In a related vein, let me reiterate that the blogroll is a jointly-maintained, very imperfect collection of blogs that we’ve managed to both notice and input. If your blog isn’t here, it doesn’t mean that we don’t like you, or that we don’t think you’re part of the bloggernacle. It could mean that we haven’t noticed your blog; that we noticed, but didn’t have time to input it; that it was inadvertently mis-coded or deleted. If you’re wondering if you should be on the list, drop us a line — again, we’re more than likely to agree with you.

By the way, setting a blogspot blog to generate an RSS feed is relatively simple:
1. Sign in to blogger
2. Go to the “Settings” tab
3. Click on the tab lebeled “Site Feed”
4. Change “publish site feed” to Yes.
5. Set “Description” to Full.
6. Depending on your setting, you will have either a blank space below with the label Site Feed Filename, or you will have a filename already entered.
a. If blogger has has already entered a file name (you will see it, it will be [your site name]/atom.xml ), just leave it.
b. If you have the blank space in the field Site Feed Filename, then enter into that field:
atom.xml
7. Click Save Changes, and go to the posts menu, and click Publish (so your changes will be published).
That’s it! You should be generating an RSS feed now.
(RSS is a way for aggregators, like Bloglines, to be able to read a blog).
