Book of Mormon Family Home Evening Lesson Twelve

(This is last week’s; I’ll have today’s later today. Sorry to get behind; I was out of town.)

BMS: King Benjamin
MBM: King Benjamin

Scripture: Mosiah 5:7
Theme: We can follow Jesus Christ.

1. The June 1992 Friend has a flannel board for King Benjamin.
2. GAPK #307
3. Children’s Songbook #276 “Do As I’m Doing”
4. The June 2000 Friend has a nice, short story called “King Benjamin’s Words.”
5. We played a little game with the poster article called “Prophets” from the May 2003 Friend.
6. The kids’ favorite part was when we took turns pretending to be King Benjamin standing on his tower (i.e., kitchen chair) and telling the people assembled in their tents (blankets) what they could do to follow Jesus.

Hey, if I buy the Book of Mormon Stories book from the distribution center, am I getting the old one or the new one. The new one is a collection of illustrated stories originally published serially in the Friend, I think. Anyone know the name of the artist? Thanks!

Um, I didn’t know there was an old and new one. I bought one maybe 8 months ago, and it is identical to the one in The Friend.

The one you have is the new one. It came out in the mid-to-late nineties. Do you know what the artist’s name is? I remember it being Jerry something.

Okay, I just searched through the old magazine archives at, and I found them. The artist’s name is Jerry Thompson, in case anyone else was curious. I’ve been looking at different artists’ depictions of Book of Mormon people and places, because I am giving away a Book of Mormon to a friend today. The giveaway missionary copies no longer have pictures in them, and I wanted to glue one onto the inside front cover. Anyway, I’m done now. Sorry to have hijacked this thread.
