Times & Seasons Welcomes Rebecca McConkie Smylie

Times & Seasons is pleased to welcome our newest guest blogger, Ms. Rebecca McConkie Smylie. Rebecca taught middle school at a low-income school in Washington Heights, New York for two years through the Teach for America program before taking a position at a hedge fund in downtown New York. She is married to Levi Smylie and now stays home with their beautiful daughter Adelaide. Rebecca has BA in English from Brigham Young University, an MA in Education from Fordham University, and this fall plans on starting an MFA in creative writing at the New School University. During her time at BYU, Rebecca was an editor in the Religious Studies Center (where, I can personally attest, she was the glue that helped to keep the RSC together). She currently blogs at S as in Smylie and The Apron Stage, where she notes:

I recently had a conversation with a tired woman who complained about the women who “have it all together.” She actually used the phrase, “like yourself.” And so I admit that these days, in addition to being a retired educator and a stay-at-home mom, I spend most of my time keeping up appearances.
