Let this not be a singular post to celebrate black history month. I think if there is hero worship that should happen in Mormonism, it should be of the saints with faithful stories who were marginalized but who were able to keep the faith. They indeed experienced the divinity that is in this imperfect true church and we need to be as resilient in our faith as William P. Daniels, Jane Manning James, Elder Martins and so many more. That’s a sharp, tremendous conclusion, Russell, to a sharp and tremendous post. There are so many stories that I don’t know–that none of us know, really. My thanks to you for being one of the many who bring mostly lost stories like those of Brother Daniels to light. They aren’t correlated stories, that’s for sure–and all the better for it.
