DC Get Together

Bloggernaclites! For those in the Washington, D.C. area there is going to be a get together at Casa Oman (sans, alas, Heather and Jacob, the more interesting Omans) on Saturday, August 13th beginning at about 5pm-ish. It will be a bring your own food kind of BBQ. I will provide watermelon, drinks, and fresh salsa from the Oman garden. If you are interested in attending, please email me at [email protected]. I will send out an email with directions.

UPDATE: I have changed the email address to a functional account. Sorry to anyone who tried to send an email to the previous account. Please resend.

UPDATE II: OK, so that one didn’t work either. Please resend to [email protected].

  1. The word “nackers” always makes me think of the word knickers. Say it fast: “Mormon nackers knickers.” I wonder if CafePress has an item category …

  2. Nate, does your wife know that you are opening your home to the unwashed masses? You better be sure she is OK with this . . .

  3. Julie: I think that there was actually a passage about this very issue in Martha Beck’s book. She told the story of how her husband tried to buy party supplies at a small Provo grocery store, and the store owner, seeing that he had a wedding ring on, demanded to know if he had his wife’s permission to throw a party in their home and store owner insisted that he wouldn’t sell the supplies until he had some hard evidence that wife had given her permission. Damn the stiffling matriarchy of Mormon society!

  4. Dear readers,

Notice how Brother Oman is evading the issue. I’m clicking over to Mormon Mommy Wars to rat on him.

  5. About how long do you figure this Bloggernaclesnacker will go? I’ll be arriving in D.C. on August 31, about two and half weeks after it starts; will the salsa hold out until then?

  6. Do you really think there are enough of us around here to make this a party? Or is this just your way of inviting Jesse & me over?

  7. Sounds like a discussion group to me, Nate. I’m sure it will be very, very dangerous. The brethren will be concerned (unless you share your salsa).

  9. Count the British Baltimoreans in. (That is, me, the wife and kids. Are kids invited?)

  10. Kids are invited. Jacob will not be here, but we have a basement play room with toys, Thomas the Train videos, as well as a play ground in our “back yard” (it is a townhouse development so we share the “back yard” with the street.)
