An unfortunate typo

All of this to-do about Jesus and Satan being brothers is unfortunate, really. As far as I can tell, it’s all a misunderstanding based on a simple typo. Mormons don’t really think that Jesus and Satan are brothers. We think that Jesus and Santa are brothers!

And what could make more sense than that, really? Look at all of the similarities:

-Associated with Christmas time? Check.
-Sees you when you’re sleeping, knows when you’re awake? Check.
-Rewards people for good behavior? Check.
-Subject of Christmas songs? Check.
-Seldom seen in person? Check.
-Has a beard? Check.

Are any of these attributes held by Satan? I think not. There are no Christmas carols about Satan, and he doesn’t even have a beard. Why on earth would he be Jesus’ brother?

But Santa, now. That one makes sense.

Tomorrow: Brigham Young didn’t really say blood atonement — he said blood transfusions!

  1. To cite an Student Review joke – Brigham Young didn’t say, “This is the Place!”. The exclamation point was really a question mark.

  2. Now that you mention it, has anyone ever seen Jesus and Santa *at the same time*? Maybe they’re more than brothers–maybe they’re one and the same!

  3. Then again:
There are the same letters in SANTA as SATAN
    They both wear red, and
They haven’t been seen in the same place either.

  4. Q. What’s the difference between ignorance and apathy?

    A. I don’t know and I don’t care.

  5. I have been an advocate of #6\’s theory for quite some time. Not only do they both wear read and haven\’t been seen together, but Santa seems to have this knack to take all the attention away from Christ around Christmastime, and there are countless graven images of him, just ask my mother.
