For Those in the D.C. Area

Richard E. Turley will be speaking at the Wesley Theological Seminary this coming Sunday. Last year I posted a couple of notices about a great series of events that Greg Prince, co-author of David O. McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism, hosts every few months at his house in Potomac, Maryland. These events have often been interfaith in nature, with representatives from the Wesley Theological Seminary frequently participating. This coming weekend, the Seminary has invited Brother Prince’s group and any others who wish to attend to come hear Assistant Church Historian Richard E. Turley (and co-author of Massacre at Mountain Meadows) address the seminary.

Speaker: Richard E. Turley, Jr., Assistant Church Historian and Recorder for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Time: Sunday, February 22nd, 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.
Location: Oxnam Chape, 4500 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20016 (Adjacent to American University) (for directions see: www.wesleyseminary.edu)

Those interested in attending should RSVP to [email protected]

  1. Kent, it’s Mountain Meadows and the broader issues of violence. Rick said last night that the time reserved for the Q&A session following his speech is the same as the speech itself. They must really be planning to have a good discussion, more than the typical “listen to the lecture and ask a couple of questions for clarification” program.
